Epidemiology

*

Cancer is one of the major worldwide public health issues.

Hoffmann &Krueger consulting provide epidemiological databases and patient forecast following a clear methodology. The presentation provides explanations of how those numbers are calculated and sourced. For any question, please feel free to contact our expert B.Bouzid PhD.B.Bouzid@hoffmann-krueger.com

Our expert are systematically collecting and using different sources and cancer registries such as International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) The Robert Koch Institute or EUROCARE-4 / EUROCARE-3.

Hoffmann &Krueger consulting databases are designed to be the most comprehensive oncology patient base tool. Our epidemiology forecast has provided a population simulation for over 10 years, and 5 years of historical data.

we provide epidemiological data forecasts expressed as :

  • Epidemiology

The study of the risk (incidence) and burden (prevalence) of disease within and between populations

  • Incidence:

The number of persons newly diagnosed with a specific disease in one given year and by stage at diagnosis. (e.g.,  the number of patients who are newly diagnosed with Lung cancer from 1 January to 31 December 2013)

  • Prevalence

The total number of persons living with a history of cancer that have ever been diagnosed with cancer over a year. Calculated from incidence and survival rates. Prevalence also includes patients who are in permanent / complete remission.

  •     Mortality

The number of deaths, in a given population for a given year (e.g., the number of patients  who die from  Lung cancer from 1 January to 31 December 2013)

These data are completely independent from survival data and were derived from death certificates collated by individual country governments

In addition, for each population, we report the main data sources used in making our forecasts.
